PROJECT EXPLICATION

The jubilee  of a science institution presupposes not only the finalizing of  achievments but also the initiating a new direction of innovative development. The most innovative component of the development might be the introduction of artistic instruments into scientific envieronment.

The conception of the project  suggests the creation and constructing of a museum of Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry which  exists as the set of cultural and historical objects  located throughout the Institute - in  public zones and  communication sectors.

Each of the objects are relevant to the  historical reality of the Institute, embodies  either a fact of a science achievment, or a method and strategy of development, or a personal history and a problematic context. The allocation of the objects and artefacts of the Institute Museum allows both the autonomous significance of a single object and forms a route along the Institute and its history.

Interactivity and contemporary art context are very important properties of the museum.

The selection of the artefacts and objects relevant to the Museum are based on the following  factors:

        - the actual significance of a historical theme, idea or concept for the Institute and science community;

        - the proper balance between the artistic and scientific components;

        - interactivity and potential for self-development.
