HARMONICAL SPHERES / SPHERICAL HARMONICS: THE POWER OF LATENT ARCHITECTURAL IMAGES
09.07.2009 at 9 pm
Any technological breakthrough offers new paths for these primordial images to reach the state of built reality. Malevhch’s architectones translate their instanciation for the industrial era. Today, the power of computers and information science generate immense territories of possibilities, shapes, geometries and assemblages that constitute the genuine contribution of computers to architecture. This lecture with briefly introduce the audience to some of the most fundamental architectural myths of the Western world, and show how, through millennia of technological development, the most unexpected morphologies emerging from the most advanced computers can be directly linked to the very first steps of architectural history.
This summer you can enjoy the sophisticated and unique CLOUD HARP installation by Nicolas Reeves (Canada). The instrument is the result of a research in electronics, acoustics, and programming. It is a physical sculpture containing a technological system that, by means of an infrared laser beam 8 kilometers high, reads the structure of clouds and then transforms this reading into musical sequences. Musical sequences by CLOUD HARP gives a new sensation of sky, now it can be experienced and understood not only visually but also aurally.
