Moscow hosts weird science show

Hypotheses Verification

The Laboratoria Art&Science Space is hosting another curious exhibition making connections between science and art. Artists from France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Serbia and Russia have set up their scientific and artistic hypotheses to have them verified by scientists.Their aim is to provoke thought and discussion, but it's not as dry and scientific as it might sound.

One photo exhibit by Richard Conte titled "Aubergines War" shows small eggplants of the small, pale and round variety with pictures of weapons tattooed onto them. What kind of hypothesis is this supposed to portray?

Your guess is as good as mine, but going to the exhibit might help solve that particular puzzle.

More controversial is Orlan's "Harlequin's Coat", a video which documents the artist's multi-media installation involving the live co-culturing of various cells from different species and ethnic origins (including those from the artist's own body) in a bioreactor. See how she made a patchwork that "gets into the sphere of emotions and psychology, proclaims multiculturalism and the acceptance of Another", as the exhibition's press release put it.
